Kevin Passmore

Kevin Passmore paints in both acrylics and oils, working from his lifelong experience as a photographer.  Water features in most of his work in one way or another; New Zealand's coastline and water gardens being his main themes.  In the coastal landscapes he is interested in the quality of light on water and surrounding landscape which generates space and atmosphere. In his water lily paintings he focuses on the relationship and vibrancy of the coloured shapes floating on a uniform visual plane.

After working for many years as the Head of the Art Department at Lynfield Collage he finally has  time to devote to his own passions, painting and photography.


Kevin graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts with Honours from the University of Canterbury and more recently completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts from the University of Auckland.

In 2007 he received a Merit Award for acrylic painting in the Rodney Regional Art Awards.

He has had several photographic exhibitions and instructed many teenagers and adults in drawing, painting, printmaking and photography.
