Ronald Cometti (Deceased) A former freelance artist and illustrator in the Advertising Industry, in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s Ronald received annual commissions from Rank Xerox (now Fuji Xerox) to produce 6 paintings per year centered around conservation. Professor John Morton mostly supplied the scientific notes, and the paintings were reproduced as an annual House Calendar. Limited prints and sets were sent to every school in NZ. Ronald always had a passionate interest in NZ wildlife and natural history, and since 1980 has worked exclusively in this field. He was the author and illustrator of several books on NZ wildlife and natural history and illustrated several books written by Prof. John Morton, Professor Emeritus of the University of Auckland. He completed an obligation to write and illustrate another book entitled “New Zealand through Time”, encapsulating NZ’s 80 million year history immediately prior to his death. In his ‘spare time’ over the past 20 yrs, Ron worked as a tour leader for American tour companies, leading Natural History tours around NZ, Australia, the Sub-Antarctic Islands and been guest lecturer on several visiting Cruise Ships. His work can be found in wildlife paintings and wall charts for the NZ Geographic and Forest and Bird Magazines, and in private collections here and overseas.
