Vicky Hunt

Whangaporoa artist Vicky is the creative red-headed cephalopod-lover behind GINGASQUID Studio.

In previous lives she has been an Engineer, Chartered Accountant (both degrees from Oxford University), Scuba Diving Instructor and most recently, a Mother.

The early inspiration for her artworks came from the surreal and heavenly work of Joan Miro and the fluid and organic forms of graham Sutherland. Since also discovering a passion for scuba diving, she has tried to combine her artworks with her love of the underwater world, its colours and  weird and wonderful inhabitants.

In her art jewellery, she seeks to combine naturally occurring organic materials with fine silver and semi-precious stones to form something completely unique. She has fun sourcing stones to make jewellery that is truly one-of-a-kind and wearable art.
