Maureen Van Dam A passionate interest in art and many years of art training underpins Maureen’s quilting. She took art at school as well as at Teachers’ College and in later years, from well-known artists. Her own extensive art collection tells a story of a long art journey. As a young mother, she and her doctor husband Alex moved to Namibia where Maureen started to quilt. Founder of several quilt guilds in nearby towns, Maureen’s work became well known and commissions followed, including a 6 x 3 meter wall hanging for a local church. Maureen continues to gather awards for her inspired quilts. She and her husband hand dye some of the fabrics and this gives the quilt a voice of its own.
